60 for 60 Exhibition

The exhibition opens to the public on March 12 and will continue through April 25, 2021. The invited artists will share a body of six works each in a wide variety of media. Both of the annual creative juried contests have a long history of breathtaking examples that never cease to enthrall viewers. With 60 works for the institution’s 60 years, the presentation will feature the best of both worlds.

“We were trying to think of an exciting way to acknowledge this milestone,” said J. Marshall Adams, Executive Director. “As one of the original Founders, it was Backus’s desire to encourage artists of all levels, and our long history of juried exhibitions is something we’ve always been proud of. Inviting a selection of the top award-winning artists from over the years to share their work offered a tantalizing opportunity to draw on those traditions in a new way.”
