1. State Road A1A, Fort Pierce
Beach bound? This beautiful drive on both North and South Hutchinson Island parallels the Atlantic shore along our 21 miles of uncrowded beaches. Drive for miles with the windows rolled down and the cool, salty ocean breeze flowing through the air. Caution: You may have to stop for a sea bird, gopher tortoise or a crab crossing the road.
2. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce
Take a drive on the wild side as you coast along Indian River Drive. Check out the beautiful historic homes, the sparkling Indian River Lagoon and nature parks along the way. On the lagoon, you may even spot a dolphin or manatee peeking out of the water – so keep your eyes peeled. If you are an early bird, be sure to hit this roadway to see a stunning sunrise over the water.
Caution: Most of Indian River Drive is a residential neighborhood. Please be respectful of the local residents and obey all traffic laws, especially speed limits.
3. Crosstown Parkway, Port St. Lucie
This new highway in Port St. Lucie makes a statement. Be sure to check out the unique art & sculptures as you guide along this bridge that connects visitors from east Port St. Lucie to West Port St. Lucie. The best views along this drive are take place when the sun is setting. Relax and take deep breaths that you’ve conquered another day of fun in St. Lucie.
Insider Tip: As one of Port St. Lucie main thoroughfares, be mindful of stop and go traffic. And please do not text or take photos while driving.
4. North Causeway, Fort Pierce
As you are on your way to visit the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, or a day of kayaking along the waterways around North Hutchinson Island, you’re guaranteed to enjoy the views out your car window. Drive over the North Causeway draw bridge, pass by sailboats and fisherman enjoying our pristine waterways, and then you will make your way over the historic Little Jim Bridge.
